Micro Irrigation Technologies

The Meras Engineering Agriculture Division specializes in the cleaning and maintenance of micro irrigation systems.  A micro irrigation system uses drip tape, emitters, tubes or low flow nozzles to deliver water, fertilizers and chemicals.  Micro irrigation systems rely on consistent uniform distribution of water and fertilizer.  Water flow in these systems can become restricted due to dissolved solids, suspended solids and bacterial growth or biofilm.

Our Agricultural specialists have designed Micro Irrigation Technologies, which eliminates any current flow restrictions and prevents future restrictions.  Meras Engineering’s Micro Irrigation Technologies has three steps: water analysis, initial cleanup and maintenance program.

Water Analysis – Proper water analysis is essential before starting any treatment program because it determines whether water flow restriction can be attributed to mineral precipitation, biofilm, fouling, or a combination of these.  Water samples are taken from both the source water and at the end of the drip system.

Initial cleanup – Performing a thorough cleanup prior to initiating a maintenance program is critical for the success of maintaining a clean and restriction free micro irrigation system.

Maintenance program – After the initial clean up is performed, our engineers will design a maintenance program to keep minerals in solution and prevent biofilm from plugging the system.
