Position: Agricultural Water Specialist



Our Company is looking for a Business Development Specialist (BDS), preferably in the Ag Industry, to be responsible for generating leads and meeting sales goals. The BDS should be results driven, and actively seek out and engage customer prospects. Establish and maintain trusting relationships with customers and deliver optimum customer experience.


Essential Functions:

  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company’s vision and strategy
  • Competitor and market analysis
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service
  • Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services
  • Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, or credit terms.
  • Quote prices, credit terms, or other bid specifications
  • Emphasize product features based on analysis of customers’ needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations
  • Negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements
  • Maintain accurate customer records, using Salesforce CRM
  • Obtain Purchase Orders numbers for orders obtained, and submit for processing
  • Select the correct products or assist customers in making a product selection, based on customers’ needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information.
  • Meet with clients at the end of the year (season) for an “End of Year Review”. Provide ongoing support
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets, maintaining sales records, sales leads and following processes within Salesforce

  • Establish and develop long-term relationships with decision makers
  • Maintain executive relationships with existing accounts
  • Seek out and identify new opportunities – initiate communication with decision makers
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Independently negotiate and close deals
  • Work with A/R to support collection efforts
  • Coordinate and support the process of the service team to complete distribution uniformity tests, installations and remediation’s
  • Active participation in weekly meetings and develop “S.M.A.R.T.” goals
  • Direct and support the consistent implementation of company initiatives
  • Ensure that accurate forecasts are completed on a timely basis in Salesforce
  • Develop and implement aggressive sales plans to meet sales quota
  • Accountable for customer satisfaction and overall regional performance
  • Recommend sales plans and strategies and identify opportunities within a territory
  • Represent Company at trade association meetings and other events as needed
  • Analyze and control expenditures of a region to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Perform special projects as assigned by Management
  • Fully utilize the Salesforce CRM program, and support any other systems implemented by the company
  • Extensive traveling
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures


Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Education – Degree preferred, but not required in a related field
  • Work Experience – Preferably 5 years previous work experience
  • Have a clean DMV record
  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, and sales techniques
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, and resource allocation
